Carson City was my hometown growing up. My family and extended family has lived there for a few generations. My sweet grandma is there, so we went to visit her May 25-28. She took a bad fall and broke her pelvic bone. We hadn't seen her since Clara was about 3 months old. It was a long overdue visit. Every morning we went to the rab nursing home with breakfast and each night we went back with dinner. Many of the older folks at the home enjoyed my rainbow hair and sait it made them happy to look at it. Some said it reminded them of cupcakes or ice cream, and that it was happy. Everyone loved to see little Clara running around. One of the afternoons we had planned to go to Lake Tahoe, but it got far too cold. So we stopped at Wal-Mart t grab a DVD player for GG wit some movies. Down the road from the Wal-Mart was my old elementary school. I drove Jack and the kids to it and we played on the grounds. It was fun to go down memory lane and remember little me. Although not too many of my stories from back then are positive. I was picked on a lot. Still it was fun to go back and see my kids play there. Some of the equipment was different, some not. One things I remembered as a little kid at this school was the beauty. The beautiful mountains that are all around, the trees and desert. I used to sit in the grass and pick little white flowers to knot together for bracelets. Fat bumble bees buzzing around, and looking around to see the mountains. The last afternoon we spent in Carson we took the kids to the train museum. my grandpa used to work there when I was about 12. I worked here temporarily then too, before going to work with my dad at the NV state museum. We met up with my friend Sara and her family. The awesome thing is Sara and I met online back in 2005 I think it was. She was dating an ex of mine and we hit it off when she reached out to me. Needless to say he has also been her ex for a very long time, and neither of us have contact with the ex, but we stayed in touch through the years. We finally had the opportunity to get together in person. OUr kids hit it off. The husbands talked while we chatted. The train ride was a kit. At the end of the tour the kids played out on the grassy hill out front for quite awhile.

We had a lot of silly fun making this video. Some clips are new, and a few are from past experiences. It's a message to baby girl that we plan to do everything we can to teach her, and guide her in this world, and that this whole big world is hers to explore, to find love in, to be who she is meant to be. We want her to know how much she is loved, and that she has this silly family that is so excited for her to get here and go on adventures with them. Eventually she will have her own adventures and stories to tell as she gets older, and we can't wait to see all that she does, and all the places she will go. Her name is dear to us. When Jack and I were about 7 months into dating we were talking about getting married and having children. He asked me if we ever had a daughter what I would like to call her, and I told him. I had a first name in mind. It belonged to both of my great grandmother's. It wasn't so much that I wanted it to be a family name, but I loved the sound of it, and vintage names. Her middle name is something I came up with sounding out names that would go well with her first name. When I came to the name we chose as the middle name, Jack was excited, because it was his mother's middle name. We love her name, and think it is so pretty and classic. On a side note, it is neat that she is going to be born in July 2016, exactly 10 years since Jack and I were introduced. Who knew it would take us 10 years to have our little girl, but we are here now, and our hearts are so full they could burst with love and excitement! Thanks for watching!
Check out these websites too! www.idahochildrensphotography.com www.womanoftheabyss.com www.idahowilliam.com In March, Jack and I went to Chicago for a couple days. He had some classes to take, so there wasn’t a lot of time to go explore, but we weren’t going to let that stop us from seeing somewhere new to both of us. It was bone-chilling cold, and we even ended up with frostbite, a mild case that recovered quickly for both of us during those couple of days, but we braved the weather as everyone in the windy city does during the winter, caught a bus here to there, talked to strangers, ate iconic Chicago pizza and hot dogs, stepped out into a glass box 103 stories high, and made a small, but amazing adventure out of the time we had. We only had evenings to go out for a couple hours, and once during the day before our flight left for the return to Boise. I walked down away from the hotel a ways to try a Portillo’s hot dog, it was surprisingly good, totally different and new to me, and it was fun to see all the art and keepsakes from time past hanging on the walls of the restaurant. When Jack was I class during the day I would head down to the hotel bar for a neat, double Jameson, and map out where we would go as soon as he got out of classes, so we could make the most of the time we had to explore. We loved the old buildings and architecture, riding the trains, and we really hope we can go back someday, when it’s warmer, and see more of the city. At the end of January we decided to take a trip to Sun Valley for a night's getaway. It was nice and sunny when we left Boise, but within a couple hours we we're driving into the fog. The hotel we booked turned out to be yucky and certainly misleading, so we got our money back and headed to the next hotel over, Knobhill. It was wonderful! They even brought us cookies and milk at close to midnight, even though room service was closed for the evening. Our dog got a cute little welcome basket too!
We ate at the roundhouse, a red, round restaurant at the top of a mountain where skiers swoop down the classic trails on Baldy. We don't' ski, but it was still fun to ride the gondola up for lunch and a glass of wine, while enjoying a gorgeous sunny view of the mountain tops. By the afternoon the weather had changed quite a bit, and we found ourselves driving home in the dark, in snow and fog, on ice, coming down a mountain. We almost saw a truck go right off the side of the mountain, but thankfully they gained control of their sliding just in time. It was terribly scary, and I am thankful Jack can drive under those conditions, because I was an anxious mess. The trip brought us closer together, which we really needed at that time, we talked about the future, we laughed, we prayed, enjoyed nature, let go of some stress, and we gave some much needed TLC to our relationship. I don't know of a relationship that doesn't have its ups and downs, and as we faced a rough patch we decided to take time just for us to be together to tend to the flame that keep us being us. |
